Modulus is the event for the future traders who prefer following volatility smiles and modelling exotic options to other mundane activities. It gives you a chance to experience the nerve wrecking pace of the markets, pitted against the best brains in a simulated trading environment.

The event involves multiple phases that let the participant model complex financial instruments in excel in the context of specific market conditions and put those models to test on a simulated trade floor. The event also gives the contestants a chance to manage a large portfolio, take positions on it and try to maximize profits from those positions.

• 1^st Prize : INR 35,000
• 2^nd Prize : INR 25,000

The event consists of 2 rounds

Round 1 (Online rounds)

• This will be an online round and will have two parts
• All the registered teams would be sent across a set of problems based on financial modeling and market related information. These problems will be structured as short caselets.
• Teams will be required to submit the worked out problems in excel.
• At the end of first online round, a set number of teams will be selected based on their clearing a minimum cut off from online round 1.
• A total of 8 teams will be selected at the end of both online rounds for the finals which will be held in IIM Calcutta.

• This will be an on-campus round
• This will be a real time market simulation round held during Intaglio.

• The event is open to students from all the B-Schools
• There should be 3 members belonging to the same institute in each team. ( All the members need to registered on the website to be able to register for the event)
• An individual can be part of only one team
• There is no limit to the number of contestants that can participate from a particular institute
• All the teams need to be registered in order to receive the problem statements.

• Registration Deadline: 11 AM, 21st December 2011
• Round 1 deadline: 11 PM, 20th December 2011 - 12 noon 21st December 2011
