Chanakya was the master of political science and policies. His shrewd knowledge about political science, warfare, policies helped Chandragupta Maurya build the Mauryan Empire. His books Arthashastra and Neetishastra replete with studies about political science, policies and laws are considered as masterpieces of Ancient India, far ahead of thir age.
The B school students for a long time have been mere adherents of policies decided by a few people at the helm. With India being considered as the growth engine of the future and having a predominantly young population, it is high time the best young brains learn and decide about the best policies.
The event is the first event of its kind which gives one the opportunity to develop a wide range of policies and more importantly test it against the wits of equally capable competitors. Understanding the existing policies is the first step towards developing better policies and hence the initial phases of the event would entail testing the participant's ability to decipher the complex world of existing policies.
The deserving candidates would then be required to create a set of implementable policies and defend it against the onslaught of an esteemed panel and each of the other participants. The policymaker who is able to withstand such close scrutiny would earn himself the title of Chanakya.
The event consists of 3 rounds Round 1 - Each team consists of 2 participants - Each team has to pick a manifesto, which will act as the guiding principle for their public policy choices. Teams will be judged on their adherence to the manifesto of their choice - All the registered teams would be given a specified period of time within which they will need to complete a 30 question multiple choice quiz online. -•- - Teams will be shortlisted for round 2 based on their performance in round 1 Round 2 - In this round contestants will be asked to pick a sector out of a choice of a couple of sectors with which they are most comfortable. - The contestants would have to identify in a 8 slide overview - The cases will be judged and 10 teams will be selected to come present their cases during Intaglio 2012 in January 2012 Round 3 - For this round, the teams are required to make a 15-minute presentation on a public policy issue based on issues they had identified and presented in Round 2 - All finalists will present before our judges at IIM Calcutta during Intaglio.
